One of the trusted aides of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose has claimed that according to the declassified files by the West Bengal govt Netaji was "alive" and "somewhere in Manchuria, China" in 1948. On August 22, 1945, Tokyo Radio had announced the "death" of Bose in an air crash in Formosa, now in Taiwan, on August 18, 1945 while he was on his way to Japan. The crash theory has been rejected by Bose's followers and admirers, and claims of the revolutionary leader resurfacing have intrigued and divided Indians over the decades.
