Jayalalithaa introduces Amma mobile phones for women

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday announced Amma mobile phone scheme for women self-help groups in her state. Jayalalithaa's government plans to spend Rs 15 crore to buy 20,000 Amma mobile phones with special software in Tamil for trainers of the women self-help groups. She said a software in Tamil will be developed to enable recording of the above data and a computerized mobile phone will be distributed to the women's self-help group trainers.
