Cook County Sheriff Seeks Attempted Murder Charges After Inmate Attack

Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart said on April 27 that he was seeking attempted murder charges against three inmates at a maximum security prison after two deputies were attacked.According to the sheriff’s office, “three detainees repeatedly punched two correctional deputies in a housing tier in Division 9, the super maximum facility.”The sheriff’s office released video of the incident, showing the officers being attacked. “One deputy had a fractured orbital and the other lost consciousness and was kept at the hospital overnight for observation,” the sheriff’s office said.
