It was announced on Tuesday that former acting Attorney General Sally Yates is scheduled to testify before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee on May 8.
CNN reports that she will be speaking on the matter of Russian election interference and to the Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, which is led by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
Yates is also "expected to appear in an open House intelligence panel hearing sometime after May 2," according to Politico.
She was fired in late january after she had told Justice Department lawyers not to make legal arguments defending President Trump's executive order on immigration and refugees.
In a letter to the department lawyers, she had said, in part, "I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to  always seek justice and stand for what is right. At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful."
Yates had also noted, "Consequently, for as long as I am the Acting Attorney General, the Department of Justice will not present arguments in defense of the Executive Order, unless and until I become convinced that it is appropriate to do so."
