NASA successfully tested inflatable heat shield for Mars mission

NASA has successfully tested its inflatable heat shield technology which works like a parachute and it will enable a spacecraft to land safely when it descends through the high temperature atmosphere of a planet such as Mars. Before NASA uses its new inflatable technology for slowing spacecraft while entering the atmospheres of other planets, it will first need to be packed into the tight confines of a rocket.
