Gambia unrest: Incumbent President Yahya Jammeh refuses to step down as deadline passes

Gambian President Yahya Jammeh’s refusal to vacate office has forced neighbouring countries to threaten military intervention to enforce a transfer of power. But the Gambian army chief has reportedly said that his troops would not clash with West African forces if they were to enter the country.
