David Henrie & Lorenzo Henrie at FRONTERA Premiere Red Carpet Arrivals at The Landmark Theater in Los Angeles, Ca USA August 21, 2014

Frontera is a smart, interesting and unsettling drama that examines both sides of the complex issues of immigration and human trafficking that deeply affects both the U.S. and Mexico.
As timely as today’s headlines, Frontera is directed by Michael Berry. The screenplay by Berry & Luis Moulinet III is based on their vastly different cultural and ethnic experiences growing up on the two sides of the Arizona and Mexican borders. Though their stories and recollections might initially seem diametrically opposite from each other, the duo concentrated on working together to explore all the hope and heartache, and the opportunities and injustice, to be found on both sides of the line. It shows that a border might divide two countries, but can’t divide humanity, for good or bad, because we are all part of the problem and the solution. Nearly all of the characters and events in the film were inspired in part or in full by some event, family member or friend from the writers’ pasts. Set along the tumultuous Arizona-Mexico border, Frontera follows Miguel (Michael Peña), a hardworking father and devoted husband who crosses the border illegally and is wrongfully accused of murdering the wife of a former sheriff (Harris). Miguel’s pregnant wife (Longoria) lands in the hands of corrupt Mexican “Coyote” smugglers as she tries to help her husband, while the ex-lawman investigates his wife’s death and unearths evidence that could destroy one family’s future.

Frontera is rated PG-13 and in theaters September 5th
