New Prince EP 'Deliverance' Blocked By Restraining Order
  • 7 years ago

Fans waiting to hear a much anticipated new Prince album will have to wait at least a little while longer as a restraining order has blocked the music from hitting iTunes.

TMZ reports the estate of the late pop icon won a court battle that would prevent producers from releasing the "Deliverance" EP, which was set to drop on the one-year anniversary of Prince's death.

In the ruling it was determined producer George Ian Boxill did not have the right to distribute Prince’s unreleased songs to the public due to a confidentiality agreement Boxill signed while working with Prince back in 2006.

Boxhill has also been ordered to turn over all remaining recordings to the estate and we’re left to wonder if we’ll ever hear those tracks.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the pair had been working on this six-song EP between 2006 and 2008.

iTunes users who pre-ordered the album before it was removed did obtain one free song download but it is unclear how the estate plans to handle the leaked song.
