India successfully test fired surface-to-air missile Barak-8 According to sources, the missile was test fired at 10:13AM today from the launchpad-3 in Chandipur, Balasore. It weighs around 270kg, is 4.5-metre high and carries 60kg of payload. It has a speed of Mach 2. Apart from the missile, the system includes a Multi-Functional Surveillance and Threat Alert Radar (MFSTAR) for detection, tracking and guidance of the missile.
