Universal's 'The Fate of the Furious' broke box office records this past weekend by grossing over $532.5 M worldwide. Internationally, it beat its predecessor, 'Furious 7' in 2016, by $228.2 M. The film also claimed the widest release for IMAX ever, with 1,079 screens that helped it set a new April opening record, as well. China was the top-grossing territory with $190 M, and others included Mexico, the UK, Russia, Germany, Brazil, and France. The 16-year-old franchise may end with 'F8' reaching the $1 billion mark.
