Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney passes away at age 84

Dan Rooney, the current chairman of the Pittsburgh Steelers, passed away on Thursday at the age 84. Rooney inherited the role of team owner from his father, Art Rooney, in 1975. He was largely influential in the 1974 draft class, considered by many to be one of the greatest draft classes in league history. During his time as owner, the team won five of their six Super Bowls, including three in five years. Outside of the Steelers, Rooney is the patriarch of the Rooney Rule, which was created in 2003 and requires teams to interview minority candidates for senior positions with the organization.
