Stunning aurora australis in New Zealand

A beautiful video has emerged of the southern lights observed from the South Island of New Zealand last month.

"There are many beautiful substorm outbursts with rays, red fringing, twisting and turning curtains of green, as well as stunning reds, magentas, yellows and even blue making an appearance towards the end," the filmer wrote online.

"One of the best auroral displays seen for many years."
