Billionaires Charles and David Koch are known to be major donors to conservative causes--but not Donald Trump’s.
The latter was reportedly seen talking with the president at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend.
David and his twin Bill, who supported Trump’s campaign, were dining at the club on Saturday night as guests of Chris Ruddy, a right-wing media businessman, according to Politico.
The publication reports that Trump stopped by the table, and, according to sources familiar with the conversation, all engaged in a pleasant exchange.
The specifics of what was discussed were not revealed.
That talk has sparked speculation of a warming relationship between Trump and the powerful Koch political enterprise.
The striking of a more conciliatory rapport between David, Charles, and Trump would mark a significant shift in the two brothers' position on the president.
In the past, they have made their distaste for Trump and a number of his agendas well known, notes the New York Daily News.
In addition to declining to fund Trump’s campaign, David and Charles suggested the political futures of Republican lawmakers who supported the president’s recent health care bill could face challenges.
Charles was also a vocal critic of Trump’s travel ban, calling it counter to his belief that maintaining “free and open societies” is in the nation’s best interest.
