Senate Democrats block Neil Gorsuch's Supreme Court nomination
  • 7 years ago
Democrats successfully blocked Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court Thursday on the Senate floor. 45 senators voted against Gorsuch's nomination. It marked only the second time that a Supreme Court nomination was successfully filibustered.
However the Democrats victory won't last too long. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is planning to change the rules in order to allow Gorsuch and future Supreme Court nominees to be confirmed with 51 votes, as opposed to 60.
