Goodbye Walmart? Amazon wants brands to sell directly to online shoppers

Never one for standing still, Amazon is working towards its next project. If the online giant is successful, the changes will deliver a blow to chains like Walmart, Target and Costco. Amazon invited executives from General Mills, Mondelez and other brands to a three-day gathering in May, which will aim to encourage them to start selling directly to online shoppers. Amazon hopes these brands will agree to focus on designing products that can be easily shipped rather than sit on a shelf.
