Joker cosplayer gets arrested for his mask, not his sword

WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA — An overly enthusiastic Joker cosplayer got nabbed by cops last week for wearing a mask in public.

Jeremy Putnam, 31, was allegedly wielding a sword and hauling it about in public.

Under Virginia state law, it’s a class-6 felony for an adult to wear a mask in public that’s punishable by up to five years in prison.

His buddies tell a different story. In a Change.org petition to set Putnam free, they claim he was carrying a cane and not a sword.

Putnam’s currently being held in an adult detention center on a $2,000 bond.
