Anthrax: ‘Illegal downloads killed record sales, unless you’re Adele’

Thrash metal heavyweight Anthrax has been playing its music for people for 35 years. As part of the ‘Big Four’ they are considered pioneers in the genre and over the years have seen many changes in the music industry. “The industry sucks,” proclaims bassist Frank Bello. “It’s like oil and water.” One of the biggest changes to their craft has been the rise of the internet, and the good or bad that comes with it. “The only way for so many bands to make it work is to stay on the road. That’s just the way it is now. The music business hasn’t figured out how to make money on records. The biggest still do, and they aren’t selling as much as they used to. But then there’s always Adele.’
