by Andrew CaringiWhy are pandas black and white? It sounds like a riddle, but the question has plagued scientists for decades. A group of biologists in California believe they’ve cracked the case. They say the animal’s white fur provides camouflage in snowy mountains, with the black fur meant for forested areas. Pandas are constantly traveling between these environments in search of delicious bamboo. Biologists believe that evolution has actually hampered the panda, never giving them full camouflage in any environment.
