On Tuesday, veteran Hollywood screenwriter and producer Gary Goldman sued Disney, claiming the studio giant stole the idea of "Zootopia" from him. The copyright infringement suit was submitted to the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. Goldman says that the movie is "virtually verbatim" to a movie he pitched the studio in 2000 and again in 2009. "Mr. Goldman's lawsuit is riddled with patently false allegations. It is an unprincipled attempt to lay claim to a successful film he didn't create, and we will vigorously defend against it in court." "Zootopia" breached the $1 billion mark in total gross and more recently won the 2016 Academy Award for Best Animated Movie.
