by Jeff DonlanThe largest known pink diamond in the world is about to go up for sale. At 59.6 carats, the diamond — called “The Pink Star” — is worth about $60 million. The previous record was a 24.78-carat diamond, which sold for $46.2 million in 2010. The Pink Star was mined in 1999 in Botswana. Before being cut and polished, the jewel clocked in at 132.5 carats. The diamond will be up for auction in April, and is expected to sell for a record price. So if you’re looking to buy, you might want to get that crowdfunding campaign started now.
