Couple save baby kangaroo from dead mother's pouch

Amazing footage has emerged from Australia of a couple saving a baby kangaroo by pulling it out of its dead mother's pouch just in time.

The video, filmed north of Brisbane on February 27, shows the couple pulling the tiny joey free after they discovered the mother lying badly injured, possibly dead, on the side of the road.

The filmer later wrote online: "My wife and I regularly keep our eyes open for sick or injured wildlife.

"On this particular day we noticed a Kangaroo lying on the edge of the road."

"We pulled over as we wanted to check whether the mother was alive and/or [if] she had a joey in her pouch," he continued.

"We found this young female."

"Six months earlier we found a baby roo, of similar size, in his deceased mother's pouch which has since grown up healthy with its wildlife carer.

"We hope the same for this Baby Roo."

The couple took the young female to the vet but it's not known how the little roo is getting on.
