Music could be powerful tool in helping people with autism

Music therapy is becoming a useful tool in helping those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Music can be effective with emotional expression and nonverbal communication. When music is played or listened to, the brain’s communication center is activated in people with ASD. Blood tests have also been assessed to decrease stress hormones after musical performances. Theater programs have also been employed to help induce social flow through creative, performance arts. Further research is being conducted to raise awareness on how music can change communication for those with autism and enable them with a greater sense of belonging.
