Trump pays tribute to fallen Navy SEAL in Congress speech

President Trump acknowledged the presence of Carryn Owens, the wife of William “Ryan” Owens, the Navy SEAL who died in a counterterrorism operation during his speech to Congress. “Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero, battling against terrorism and securing our nation,” Trump said. Owens, a member of the military’s elite SEAL Team 6, was killed in late January during a raid on al-Qaeda in Yemen. The raid marked the first operation approved by the Trump administration. Owens’ father, Bill Owens, refused to meet with Trump at Dover Air Force Base earlier this month, where family members met to receive Owens’ remains.
