The Völuspá(Prophecy of the Völva) is the first and best known poem of the Poetic Edda.
A Völva is a female magic practitioner found in Old Norse-Icelandic Literature. Völur (plural of Völva) are found both in mythological material (The Prose and the Poetic Edda) and in later historical and pseudo-historical works (Sagas of the Icelanders, King's Sagas). Völur are most often described as seeresses magically peering into the future.
