Powerful snowstorm brings whiteout conditions in northwestern China

Dramatic footage has emerged of a powerful snowstorm bringing whiteout conditions on the roads in northwestern China.

The video, filmed in Tacheng, Xinjiang Urghur Autonomous Region on Sunday, shows vehicles stranded in the thick blizzard which caused extremely low visibility.

According to local reports, over 200 people participated in rescuing the trapped travellers and vehicles.
