Witness: Robert Durst admitted killing wife, friend

Robert Durst admitted killing his confidant Susan Berman, a close friend of both testified Thursday during a pre-trial hearing in the real estate scion’s murder case. “I had to. It was her or me. I had no choice,” the executive, Nick Chavin, recalled Durst saying. Chavin, who was a long-time friend of both Durst and Berman, gave a deposition in the murder case, which has yet to go to trial. Chavin also claimed Berman had told him Durst had admitted to murdering his first wife, Kathleen. Durst has pleaded not guilty to murder in Berman's 2000 shooting, and he's never been charged with any crime related to his wife's disappearance. But prosecutors said they think he killed Kathleen Durst.
