Footage has emerged from a supermarket in Oroville, CA, USA, of aisles emptied by residents who stayed in their home during the flood.

The video, shot on Monday, shows residents from above the lake queueing in the store to buy food.

"People who live up here can leave the area, but once they leave it will be very difficult to return due to evacuation road closures below Lake Oroville," the filmer wrote online.

A large hole was found in the Oroville dam emergency spillway which caused floods in the lower part of the city.

Thousands of residents were evacuated.
