GAAAYS IN SPAAACE Thank NANA VISITOR for 'Always Being a Friend'

The third leg of the GAAAYS IN SPAAACE: Equality Celebration Tour took place on Nov. 12th, 2016 in Albany, NY. Organizers of the event took the opportunity to present long time friend and ally, NANA VISITOR with a unique gift to thank her for her unwavering support of the LGBTQ Community.

On July 22, 2016 the STAR TREK franchise took an impressive, albeit long overdue, step forward by finally featuring an openly Gay character in their latest feature film, STAR TREK: BEYOND.
This was a HUGE step forward for the LGBTQ community in the history of the franchise.
After so many years of feeling marginalized and forgotten, the significance of seeing ourselves as active, equal members of the all-inclusive Utopian future that GENE RODDENBERRY created for mankind at long last was truly overwhelming.
We felt obligated to not allow this moment in history to pass without commemoration and so we created a multi-city, cross country futuristic equality celebration tour called... GAAAYS IN SPAAACE.
We hosted our first official GAAAYS IN SPAAACE celebration on August 4, 2016 in LAS VEGAS and were absolutely blown away by the positive response we received.
NANA VISITOR (Major Kira Nerys of STAR TREK: DS9 ) was our very special guest for the evening and was an absolute delight! She had so much fun mingling and chatting with all of her LGBTQ fans that she promised to attend as many subsequent 'GIS' events as possible.
On September 2nd GAAAYS IN SPAAACE landed in the heart of NEW YORK CITY's theatre district and true to her word NANA was there w/us! We were also thrilled to welcome both CIRROC LOFTON (Jake Sisko of STAR TREK: DS9 ) and ROD RODDENBERRY (Exec. Producer, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY) that evening as well.
The event which followed in ALBANY on November 12th saw our biggest celebrity turn out yet when NANA VISITOR (Major Kira Nerys - STAR TREK: DS9 ), ROBERT PICARDO (The Doctor - STAR TREK: VOYAGER ), CHASE MASTERSON (Leeta - STAR TREK: DS9 ), GARRETT WANG (Ensign Harry Kim - STAR TREK: VOYAGER ), ARON EISENBERG (Ensign Nog - STAR TREK: DS9 ) & ROBIN CURTIS (Lt. Saavik - STAR TREK: III & IV) all came out to support the cause and had a blast!
Our most recent event in SAN FRANCISCO was certainly NOT going to be outdone by any of its predecessors and so we welcomed our very own guardian angel, NANA VISITOR (Major Kira Nerys - STAR TREK: DS9) as well as TERRY FARRELL (Lt. Cmdr. Jadzia Dax - STAR TREK: DS9), CHASE MASTERSON (Leeta - STAR TREK: DS9), HANA HATAE (Molly O'brien - STAR TREK: DS9) & ADAM NIMOY (Director - FOR THE LOVE OF SPOCK) for another unforgettable night!
The GAAAYS IN SPAAACE: EQUALITY CELEBRATION TOUR is Just Getting Started.
Preparations are already underway for events in LOS ANGELES, LAS VEGAS, NYC, NEW JERSEY & CHICAGO throughout 2017.
Each and every GAAAYS IN SPAAACE event is a celebration of historic importance for LGBTQ Trekkies and all of our straight allies who have forever maintained that this day would eventually arrive.
