A 47-year-old woman in Delaware has reportedly pleaded guilty to killing her husband by mixing antifreeze into his steroids.
According to the News Journal, “Jamie L. Baker of Smyrna entered her plea in Superior Court in Dover on Monday morning.”
Her husband, 42-year-old competitive weightlifter James Baker, was said to have been found dead in the family home about 3.5 years ago.
A subsequent autopsy reportedly detected ethylene glycol, a toxic ingredient in antifreeze, in his kidneys, and, after the substance was found in his steroid bottles, his death was ruled a homicide.
An Associated Press report states that “Jamie Baker reportedly told officers she had used a hypodermic syringe to extract antifreeze from a bottle and injected it into her husband’s bottles of liquid steroids.”
Her motive is unknown, but they were believed to have been married for 21 years, the New York Daily News.
Jamie had initially been accused of first-degree murder, but her guilty plea was applied to a second-degree murder charge.
