Uber adds NASA engineer for flying car project

Uber appears to be very serious about its flying car aspirations now that the ride-hailing giant recruited NASA engineer Mark Moore to work on their project specifically. According to Bloomberg, Uber consulted with Moore for a recent white paper on the concept and has now hired him as director of engineering for aviation. Uber has named the new initiative Elevate. The objective is to maneuver around traffic congestion via miniature helicopter-like vehicles called VTOL's, or Vertical Take-Off and Landing. “I can’t think of another company in a stronger position to be the leader for this new ecosystem and make the urban electric VTOL market real,” he says.
