Legal tug-of-war brews over Trump administration immigration ban

Donald Trump’s administration faces the first legal hurdle to get a controversial temporary immigration ban reinstated.
The government faces a Monday evening deadline to provide the US appeals court with information to justify the ban after a federal judge in Seattle blocked it on Friday.
Trump took to Twitter to defend his position saying ‘If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!”
He also said he had instructed border officials to vet people ‘very carefully’.
Vice-president Mike Pence also made the case for the administration arguing that the president’s actions were “on solid constitutional and legal grounds.”
Discriminatory, unhelpful and legally dubious are just some of the ways his critics have dismissed the executive order. Tech giants, including Google, Apple and Microsoft, filed a legal brief with nearly 100 companies on Sunday opposing the ban saying it ‘inflicts significant harm on American business, innovation, and growth as a result’.
Trump, who had called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the country on the campaign trail, has vowed to reinstate the ban on citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, as well as a 120-day bar on refugees from every nation, in the aim of protecting America from Islamist attacks.
