Boston bombing survivor to marry firefighter who rescued her

BOSTON — A woman who lost a limb in the Boston Marathon bombing has found her happy ending — and it’s with the man who saved her that tragic day.

CBS reports that Roseann Sdoia had been watching runners cross the finish line when the pressure-cooker bombs went off. Her right leg was destroyed during the second explosion. As she lay bleeding on the street, firefighter Michael Materia came to her aid.

Materia later visited her at the hospital while she was recovering from an amputated leg, but love was the last thing on her mind. Her mother, though, noticed the handsome firefighter looked like a good catch and tried to play matchmaker.

And because mom knows best, the survivor struck up a friendship with her hero that soon turned romantic.

In December 2016, Materia proposed in Nantucket, using a special engraved tag on their dog Sal to pop the question.

The two are set to tie the knot in a small ceremony in October or November.
