Groundhog Day 2017: Did Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?
Punxutawney Phil saw his shadow on Thursday morning, predicting six more weeks of winter during Groundhog Day festivities. The prediction was made in front of a large, early-morning crowd in Punxsutawney, Pa., where an annual festival is held each year. According to an old German legend, if a groundhog sees his shadow on Feb. 2, winter will last another six weeks. If not, spring comes early. Records dating to 1887 show Phil has now predicted more winter 103 times while forecasting an early spring just 18 times - including last year.
