Report: Obama May Speak Out 'More Forcefully' Against Trump In Future
  • 7 years ago
Those close to Barack Obama suggest his challenging of President Trump may become more forceful in the future.

Before leaving office, Barack Obama said that if he sees President Trump taking actions that compromise the soul of the nation, he intends to say something, reports the New York Times.
It took only 10 days for his office to issue a statement.
Though Obama did not personally or directly address the issue at hand - Trump’s ban on people traveling from 7 predominantly Muslim countries and the protests it spurred - those close to him suggest his responses may become more forceful in the coming months.
According to inside sources who spoke with Politico, the question is how to do so most effectively and at a frequency that doesn’t dilute the impact of Obama’s message.
Insiders noted that assertiveness must be used wisely as Obama, according to Politico, “knows he only gets one chance at it being the first time that he takes on Trump himself.”
For now, the commentary is limited to the statement, which reads, in part, “President Obama is heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country. Citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake.”
