Lyft reaches top 10 in the App Store amid #DeleteUber campaign

Lyft has skyrocketed into the top 10 on Apple's App Store thanks in large part to a #DeleteUber campaign that took place on social media over the weekend. The campaign started as a result of surge pricing on part of Uber for those looking to travel to JFK airport in the midst of the refugee protests, as well as the decision by CEO Travis Kalanick to sit on President Donald Trump's economic advisory board. A number of Hollywood celebrities helped to spread the #DeleteUber campaign on Twitter, which helped the movement gain traction. Lyft also pledged to donate $1 million to the ACLU. Kalanick responded shortly after condemning Trump's immigration bans, saying he'd create a $3 million defense fund to help cover legal, immigration and translation costs for drivers affected by the ban.
