On Monday morning, President Trump took to Twitter in an attempt to diffuse the chaos that ensued due to his order barring U.S. entrance to people from 7 predominantly Muslim nations.
Over the weekend, President Trump's executive order that temporarily banned citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries to enter the United States resulted in detainments, protests, legal action, and denouncements by some members of Congress.
On Monday, Trump took to Twitter in an attempt to diffuse the chaos that had ensued.
He wrote, “Only 109 people out of 325,000 were detained and held for questioning. Big problems at airports were caused by Delta computer outage, protesters and the tears of Senator Schumer. Secretary Kelly said that all is going well with very few problems. MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!”
Less than an hour later, Trump tweeted, “If the ban were announced with a one week notice, the ‘bad’ would rush into our country during that week. A lot of bad ‘dudes’ out there!”
Senator Chuck Schumer was among the lawmakers who spoke out against the ban, notes Politico.
In an address given on Sunday, Schumer said, with tears in his eyes, “This executive order was mean-spirited and un-American. It was implemented in a way that created chaos and confusion across the country," and called for its reversal.
