Train derails in southern India, killing at least 39

An express train derailed in southeastern India on Saturday night, killing at least 39 people.
The train was traveling from Jagdalpur city to Bhubaneswar when it derailed in the Vizianagaram district.
A total of eight coaches and the engine of the express train derailed at about 11:30 p.m., the Indian Express reported. At least 39 people were killed and more than 50 were wounded.
“The death toll is likely to go up as we are cutting out more bodies. Rescue operation still on. Four more of our teams are on their way,” Deputy commandant of NDRF, BK Tiwari told the Indian Express.
Maoist rebels were initially suspected for sabotaging the railway and causing the derailment but officials later said the cause appeared to be a technical fault.
