Paul McCartney sues Sony over Beatles copyright
  • 7 years ago
Paul McCartney filed a lawsuit once again against Sony to regain his copyright ownership share over The Beatles' back catalog. McCartney seeks to regain the publishing rights to 267 of the band's classic songs. The star has been trying to gain control over a number of songs since the 1980s, when Michael Jackson had out-bid him for the rights. The legal case could greatly impact copyright termination, which allows authors to reclaim ownership of their works from music publishers. While not always successful, performers like Prince and Billy Joel have used it to regain rights over their work.
