American Airlines follows the trend and unveils a cheaper flight option

Earlier this morning, American Airlines announced that they will be offering a new, cheaper ticket called "Basic Economy." The main drawback of the cheaper flight, as it has been with other airlines, is the loss of the overhead bin and the usual $25 fee for checking a bag. “We hope that limiting carry-ons to a personal item will result in fewer bags in overhead bins,” the statement reads. “For Basic Economy customers, planning ahead to check a bag at the ticket counter or kiosk ensures a smoother travel experience without worrying about bin space.” Additionally, the Basic Economy seating will likely land you in the middle seat since the seats are assigned at check-in. You will also be placed in the last boarding group.
