More than 10.7 million in need of urgent help amid Boko Haram insurgency

There are some new alarming figures about the worsening refugee crisis in the north of Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

The UN says more than 10.7 million people in the Lake Chad Basin are now in urgent need of humanitarian help, amid the insurgency by Boko Haram rebels.

Some 2.4 million people have been displaced, with the majority being children.
