President Obama is advising people against underestimating Donald Trump.
He made the comment during his latest and last interview on CBS' '60 Minutes' which is slated to air on Sunday, January 15.
In a clip released by CBS News, correspondent Steve Kroft brings up Trump’s unusual transition thus far, and Obama says, “...he is an unconventional candidate. I don't think there's anybody who's run a campaign like his successfully in modern history...and, as a consequence, because he didn’t have the supports of many of the establishment in his own party, because he ran sort of...[an] improvisational campaign.”
Kroft also mentions Trump’s tweets which have covered a wide range of topics from U.S. nuclear capabilities to Meryl Streep.
The president responds by saying, “I think everybody has to acknowledge--don’t underestimate the guy cause he’s going to be [the] 45th president of the United States.”
Obama has previously expressed some positive thoughts about his successor; in a recent ABC News interview, he called Trump “very engaging and gregarious.”
However, he stopped short of admitting that he liked the president-elect.
Meanwhile, Trump has reportedly called Obama “a very good man,” but has also accused him of creating "roadblocks" and making “many inflammatory...statements."
