Yahoo will change its name to Altaba if Verizon deal gets done

Yahoo announced that, following the close of its merger with Verizon, what's left of the company will be changing its name to Altaba. The new name is meant to reflect Yahoo's transformation into a holding company for investments in China's e-commerce leader, Alibaba Group, and Yahoo Japan that are worth about more than $40 billion combined. CEO Marissa Mayer, along with Yahoo cofounder David Filo and four other members of the board will step down after the deal closes, Yahoo said.
