The Treaty of Lausanne sought to make Turkey accept living in a single room rather than an entire house

ADNAN OKTAR: Abdulaziz and Atatürk have similar personalities in that they shared the same intellectuality, modernity, sense of quality and liberty, the same spirit in their interpretation of the Quran: Abdulaziz. Abdulhamid was a downtrodden ruler; he suffered unjust treatment. He went through a terrible oppression at the hand of the British deep state just as many other Ottoman Sultans. The Abdulhamid’s reign marked an era of immense devastation. We will identify and repair the damage this devastation caused. If you call it "a good treaty", it means you want to carry on the devastation. There is nothing good about devastation. But the reign of Abdulaziz was different. He was truly a Shah, truly magnificent, truly a Sultan, truly a Protector, truly a Martyr. He deserved all those titles.

In Lausanne, they told us, "If you do not consent to this, we will completely destroy your country" and we accepted it. We did so because it was the more reasonable thing to do. Otherwise, the treaty was unacceptable. All those territories were our registered land. They took them all away from us. Crete, the Dodecanese Islands, Thessaloniki, all of them was our registered property. So, saying "Lausanne was a good treaty" would mean accepting the oppression. In other words, we only agreed to it so that our country, our nation would not suffer anymore. We agreed to it for the moment, temporarily. What we really want is the justice to be served, to live on these blessed lands in harmony, in unity. We do not claim to pursue a policy of conquest. We do not say, "Let’s take the Dodecanese Islands and Cyprus back and expel all the Rums." What we say is, "Lets live with our Rum brothers in unity and harmony." In other words, those lands are registered to our name. We consider these people our brothers. Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, those territories were all registered to the Ottoman Empire. We wish to live together amicably with our brothers once again. We do not want to spoil their cultures, language, religion or beliefs. We want to live together in harmony, amicably without interloping. When borders and passports are abolished, in other words, when passport and visa requirements are abolished -this is what I mean by abolishing borders- it will be our conquest; this is what we mean. Otherwise, there is no such thing as expelling the Rums, the Serbians, and the Jews from these lands. On the contrary, let us live together, let them come and live in Turkey; we do not have any other intention. But the injustice should also be remedied.

For example, show our territory prior to the Lausanne Treaty. All of these lands were taken from us. And now, they set their eyes on what handful of territory we have left with. They say, "We will take the South East." Are you out of your minds? Are you looking for trouble?
