Nigeria finds Chibok girl kidnapped by Boko Haram wandering in the forest, with a baby in her arms

MAIDUGURI, NIGERIA — Nigerian army said on Thursday that they have found a schoolgirl who was kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents. She was found with a baby in her arms.
The girl has been identified as Rakiya Abubakar. She was found wandering in the Sambisa Forest along with a 6-month-old baby. According to CNN, Abubakar told the soldiers that she was one of the girls kidnapped from Chibok Secondary School in April 2014.
Nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents from a boarding school in Chibok in April 2014.
In May 2016, one of the girls escaped. In October, 21 girls were released after a government negotiation. In November, the Nigerian army found another girl with a 10-month-old baby in the Sambisa Forest.
Some 196 school girls are still reportedly being held captive. Meanwhile, the Nigeria’s defence department declared on Thursday that Boko Haram has been completely wiped out in the country.
“Boko Haram is gone in Nigeria and it has gone for good. There is no Jupiter that can bring Boko Haram; what we are doing is to only sensitise citizens on the need to alert us on fleeing Boko Haram members. On the Chibok girls, our Operation Rescue Finale is still ongoing to rescue the girls,” Brigadier-General Rabe Abubakar, the Director of Defence Information in Nigeria, told the Daily Post.
