On Thursday, incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer said that Donald Trump has no intention of restructuring U.S. intelligence agencies, reports Politico.
The comment followed a Wednesday report in the Wall Street Journal that suggested the president-elect is planning to cut back and reshuffle CIA jobs.
The Journal noted that information provided by an unnamed source with knowledge of Trump’s objectives indicated there is a plan to reduce staff positions at the CIA’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
During a Thursday morning conference call with reporters, Spicer said, “These reports are false. All transition activities are for information-gathering purposes and all discussions are tentative."
He also commented, “The president-elect's top priority will be to ensure the safety of the American people and the security of the nation, and he is committed to finding the best and most effective ways to do it. There is no truth to this idea of restructuring the intelligence community infrastructure."
