Brazil prison uprising leaves at least 56 dead

An uprising at a Brazil prison that lasted more than 17 hours left at least 56 prisoners dead, according the national news agency Agencia Brasil. Violence erupted on Sunday afternoon between two criminal organizations, leaving six bodies decapitated. The revolt was caused over the control of the drug trade from within the prison, according to public safety secretary Sergio Fontes. Dozens of prisoners were killed in the riot and numerous others could have potentially escaped, according to authorities.
