TACOMA, WASHINGTON — A woman in Tacoma, Washington thought she was going to die when she was bitten more than 30 times by a vicious pit bull as she protected her best friend’s baby.

On October 29, Felicia Hambrick, 24, was at her best friend Cassy’s place babysitting Cassy’s three children.

During breakfast one morning, Cassy’s pit bull, Roscoe, suddenly came running into the kitchen. Hambrick, standing at less than 5 ft tall, had not choice but to use her body as a shield to protect her best friend's 8-month-old daughter as Roscoe knocked them to the ground.

Roscoe bit the helpless Hambrick in her legs, arms, stomach and neck as she screamed for help.

Cassy’s mother, who was smoking outside, rushed back inside to beat off Roscoe with a broom. During a moment when the dog relented, she managed to take the baby away to safety.

However, the dog soon came back to continue his attack Hambrick. The pain was so great that Hambrick said she wished she was dead.

Cassy’s mother eventually managed to get the dog outside, after sustaining a few bites herself, and Hambrick was rushed to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment.

After spending five days in the hospital, Hambrick was sent home with 94 staples holding her wounds together.

Meanwhile, Roscoe was taken away to animal shelter and has since been euthanized, Cassy told The News Tribune.
