Riteish Deshmukh's Father Vilasrao Deshmukh Passes Away

Actor Riteish Deshmukh's father, Union minister and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, passed away this afternoon after a multiple organ failure. He breathed his last at a hospital in Chennai after suffering from a liver ailment. He was moved to Chennai last week from the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Sources claim that the 67-year-old politician had shown signs of improvement and been on and off the ventilator before being prepared for a transplant.
Vilasrao Deshmukh had been diagnosed with liver cancer. An earlier attempt had been made to harvest liver from a brain dead donor from a government hospital but it proved futile as the man died before doctors could operate on him on Tuesday night.
