Participants in Peru’s annual slugfest battled it out on Sunday in the local Takanakuy fighting festival aimed at settling old scores and starting the new year afresh.
This year, however, marked the first time the fusion “Huaylia Chumbivilcana” dance that often accompanies the event was performed after being declared Peruvian national heritage.
