Deepika Padukone: 'I identify a lot with my 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' Character'

Deepika Padukone will play a shy, introvert girl called Naina Talwar in her upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which will see her opposite her former flame Ranbir Kapoor. At the trailer launch of the film, DeePee stated that she can identify a lot with her character in the film, as at one point, in her life, she too was like her.
"Naina is a girl who is very introverted, shy, a girl who is not coming to her own. She appreciates people around her, but she can never understand how to be that person and then she meets certain people and it is her journey of experiences of meeting people and then how she comes into her own,' she said while talking about her character in YJHD.
"I identify a lot with this character because it's something I have gone through in my own life. And obviously, as Naina grows older, with her own experiences and with the people that she meets, she becomes a young confident and beautiful girl," she further added.
Directed by Ayaan Mukerji, the film is produced by Karan Johar and is slated to hit the theaters on May 31, this year.
